Company & Entity Registration
Startup India Registration (DPIIT)
Company formation and DPIIT recognition are separate steps for eligible startups.
Discuss DPIIT RecognitionWhat is Startup India Registration (DPIIT)?
“Startup registration” can refer to two different steps: forming a legal entity and applying for recognition under the Startup India initiative. DPIIT recognition does not create a company or replace its incorporation.
Startup India directs eligible entities to apply for DPIIT recognition through the National Single Window System (NSWS), using the “Registration as a Startup” form. Applicants should check the current official eligibility definition and application checklist before submitting.
Dattriox supports startup entity registration and DPIIT recognition application preparation. Recognition is decided by the relevant government authority; eligibility and any separate benefits are subject to current rules and approval.
What DPIIT recognition does—and does not—do
- It provides formal DPIIT-recognised startup status to entities that meet the current definition and are approved.
- It does not replace incorporation, GST or sector-specific registrations, and recognition alone does not guarantee funding, tax exemptions or other benefits.
- A clear description of the product or service and supporting information can help applicants complete the current portal form accurately and respond to any follow-up query.
Information commonly needed for the application
Use the live Startup India and NSWS checklists; required evidence can change and depends on the applicant and current form.
- Entity incorporation or registration certificate and PAN details
- Founder, authorised representative and entity contact information
- A concise explanation of the customer problem, solution, product or service
- Evidence describing innovation or improvement and potential to scale, where relevant to eligibility
- Website, product material, pitch deck or other supporting evidence requested by the current application form
