FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) registration is the mandatory license for anyone who manufactures, processes, stores, distributes or sells food — from home kitchens and cloud kitchens to restaurants, traders and manufacturers.
There are three levels based on turnover and scale: Basic Registration, State License and Central License. The 14-digit FSSAI number must be displayed on your premises and product labels.

- Swiggy, Zomato and organized retailers require a valid FSSAI number before onboarding.

- PAN and Aadhaar of proprietor / partners / directors
- Passport-size photograph
- Proof of business premises (EB bill / rent agreement + NOC)
- Partnership Deed / Certificate of Incorporation, as applicable
- List of food products / category
- Food Safety Management Plan (for State / Central License)
- Water test report (for manufacturing units, where applicable)

Which FSSAI license do I need — Basic, State or Central?
It depends on annual turnover and operations: Basic (up to ₹12 lakh), State (₹12 lakh–₹20 crore), Central (above ₹20 crore or import/export). We assess and apply for the right one.
